The 4 Stage Mountain Bike Race Lanzarote, an official UCI MTB event, brings a new racing format including the e-bikes as a leisure category.
With four days of adventure and exciting mountain bike racing, this MTB race will challenge elite and amateur riders. A premium MTB experience that rewards riders with the toughest and most stunning scenery in Lanzarote through its flowing trails alongside sand and lava fields. Participants will be able to choose to compete in two stages (Saturday and Sunday) or in four stages (Thursday to Sunday). Cadets and juniors will have the opportunity to sign up for the fourth and final stage.
This is more than just a bucket list race, it is the pinnacle of mountain biking in the Canary Islands, attracting participants back year after year with its fascinating courses and social atmosphere.

DESCRIPTION
This first stage is the most “alpine” of the event, taking participants through the highest area of the island. Stunning mountain and ocean views await those who can lift their eyes from their handlebars. The route drags steadily uphill, driving heart rates ever upwards with several technical spots. Riders will have to continue to reach the “Ermita de Las Nieves”, one of the highest areas of the island, with the pressure of the time trial to the finish line.

DESCRIPTION
Stage 2 heads to the West, taking the riders on a gradual ascent from La Santa to Mancha Blanca and Tinguatón with a couple of steep climbs. From this lava area the route rolls onwards towards La Vegueta, Tinajo El Cuchillo with fast and flowing trails, low tunnels, singletrack sections and a few sharp segments to keep the flow, cruising downhill to the Finish Line at Club La Santa, enjoying an amazing sea view.

DESCRIPTION
This stage offers playful dual and singletracks crossing through farms, continuing to Tiagua, Teguise, El Mojon with several technical points. It will be necessary to save strength for the day’s most challenging climb, La Presa de Mala, almost 8 kilometres of hard pedalling that will leave the riders at the highest part of the mountain range. The fastest male and female riders of this segment will be proclaimed King and Queen of the Mountain. A link section will connect with the last and spectacular descent to finish with fast and a few demanding tracks on the way to the stage´s finish line.

DESCRIPTION
The last day starts with a flat track in La Santa area, providing a quick warm-up before a 12K gradual and fast ascent in the stretch from El Cuchillo to Tinguatón, an area with volcanic rocks in the sand, volcanos sitting dormant and a wind that never ceases. From Mancha Blanca the descent leads the participants to Tinajo, through a rural area of vineyards and back to La Santa, experiencing a spectacular sea view along the ride.
Cadets and Juniors can compete in Stage 4.

BATTERY REQUIREMENTS
Participation is limited to strictly standard models with pedal-assist system, with a maximum power of 250w and a power limiter that cuts off at 25km/h. The event will have staff to ensure that all ebikers participate in the maximum equality of technical conditions.
It will not be allowed to compete with more than one battery and this will be marked at the start of the race and checked at the end of it.

RULES
- All participants must comply with the rules of the Spanish Cycling Federation.
- Only Mountain Bikes will be admitted to the race
- Helmet is mandatory
- The Mountain Bike must be in perfect working condition. Participants must carry out a safety check of the bike before racing (oiled chain, perfect functioning shifters & brakes, good condition tyres, etc.). The final check will be performed by the Spanish Cycling Federation judges.
- Participants should carry spare parts
- Race number must be placed on your back and the front of your bike
- Participants cannot accept help from any persons (other than a race officials)
- No spectators are allowed on the race course
- Insurance on Race day: those participants who are not in possession of a license for competitive cycling, must apply for a temporary license valid only for the competition, approved by the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation (RFEC).
The purchase of the Spanish Race license for the race days is available at the online registration (max. age for race days license: 75 years).

E-BIKE REGULATION
Features that e-bikes must comply with:
- Strictly stock model with pedal-assist system
- Maximum capacity of 800W/h
- Power limiter that cuts off at 25km/h
- Approved by CE, according to European Directive 2002/24/CE defined in Article 1, point h)
- The motor should only activate when pedaling and should stop working when pedaling stops (they cannot have a throttle)
- Weight less than 40 kg
- Competing with more than one battery is not allowed
Important:
The bike cannot have modifications or additions that alter its factory characteristics.
All e-bikes will be checked manually before the start of each stage.

MOUNTAIN BIKING TIPS IN LANZAROTE
- It is recommended to use Tubeless tires due to the presence of volcanic rocky terrain and sand, where punctures are common if Tubeless is not used.
- Respecting the environment is important: Lanzarote has been declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
- It's not allowed to ascend to the summits of the volcanoes, but it's possible to go around them.
- There are countless trails that can be explored, although they are not always well-marked. It's recommended to download routes from Strava or Wikiloc to avoid getting lost and to find the trails.
- Try to start early in the morning if you plan to cover a route that takes several hours.
- There is a route that is usually done in stages over 4 days and circumnavigates the entire island, covering approximately 260 kilometers, although some brave ones have completed it in a single long day.
- In the northern part of the island, there are multiple options like circling the La Corona volcano, ascending the Mala dam (approximately 9 km with a 600-meter ascent), the Bosquecillo area if you're an Enduro enthusiast, or visiting the Ermita de las Nieves. For the more experienced, there is a spectacular descent from the Ermita de las Nieves to Famara, going down around the Maramajo ravine.
- In the central area, there is a wide variety of trails or dirt tracks through the potato fields and vineyards of Tinajo.
- The southern part of the island stands out for the network of trails in Los Ajaches: from Puerto del Carmen to Playa Blanca, passing through Playa Quemada. These are trails with ascents and descents along the coast of Lanzarote. However, this route is not recommended in summer due to potential heat.
Race Result is the official timing software for all participants. The organization reserves the right to use gun-time for all participants.
